Web Designer Magazine: HTML, CSS, Javascript App Reviews

Seriously?

Better websites publish same stuff on web for free. Why dont they give their digital copies for free and just make money off ads? No one in their right mind would pay that much for what a google search can find in 5 seconds.

Misleading

Information contained isnt worth the money they are asking for it. Digital should be cheaper. If Im going to pay this much, I want something I can hold in my hands and enjoy. Subscription cost is insane too. $.99 is about the max is pay for a tiny digital copy of something I could find quickly via a google search if I really wanted it.

Fabulous

To other reviewers - duh its not free. But you can preview every page. You just cant read it. Great well done magazine.

Insanely expensive.

For a digital copy. Really? Deleted! Better info on the web for free. You really should consider .99cents if you want more subscribers. Because Google is just a click away.

Cost too high for digital

While the content is valuable... $6 an issue for a digital format is just ridiculously too much to ask. At $3 or maybe even $4 an issue... Id sign up for a yearly subscription in a heartbeat but the current pricing is just too much. Please reconsider your pricing structure to gain many more subscribers (including myself).

Get a grip people

Unless youre a huge business owner distributing digital publications or print publications, stop telling other businesses how to make their money. This app is clearly a simple alternative to the print magazine. For me, it cleans up clutter in my home and keeps my purchased issues in one place of reference. True, you can get this stuff on the web in some places for free. If thats your thing, then do it. The ipad app isnt for you. Alot of these reviews are whiny. This app is what it is, simple. If you offer suggestions ( like a way to access exercise files) that will help improve the app, then maybe Web Designer will act on those. Giving it a 1 star and being a brat doesnt help anyone. 3 stars are considered pretty average, 1 star means it fails in every aspect. In my opinion this app is average, works and serves some purpose. I look forward to improvements. Thanks Web Designer for your efforts.

Love this mag!

Best interactive magazine on the newsstand! Definitely subscribing!

Pretty good

A lot of people are complaining about the price of the subscription. If you break it down, its only a little under $5 an issue. Of course you could google the techniques that are in the magazine. The magazine does highlight some great companies that you wont easily find on a google search. Like everything else there are pros and cons. But giving a low rating because you cant afford a $5 magazine. Really? Im no fan boy, just an observer of the obvious.

Truth

Do you know the app creator is most likely thè person you subscribe to, and they profit off you, its not your profit. You must go into development yourself and make it a big company.

Waaaay too much money

Seriously? 5.99 per issue and 13.99 for special issues??? Way too much money for a digital issue. I completely understood (and supported) this magazine when I used to purchased this at borders. They had to ship overseas and that was the reason for the high prices. But, this is a different medium. Put this at .99 cents or even 1.99 and you would get a huge subscriber base. Keep this where its at and youll just keep getting reviews like this.

No tutorials!

Unlike .net this publication still comes with a cd and while i prefer web designer to .net at least I can still download the files from the .net site. Unfortunately, this is not the case with web designer at this time. I can only surmise that the lower subscription cost for their emag reflects this. Though tempting as it is to buy the emag I will still have to buy mine from the mag rack. I love the files that come with the mag. However, if u want a great mag and dont use the file disc then this would be a great fit for you.

even after the update, its still real bad on ipad3 retina

with the update, the reader/home section gets retina ready, but magazine issues, even the latest issue came out today still have the same old very low resolution scanned images! I updated and even tried deleting the app and reinstalling, but it just looks terribly wrong on ipad3. On ipad2 it looked acceptably poor before, but with new ipad3 retina display the low resolution scanned images get very weird aliased and almost impossible to read. please switch away from this low-res scanned images solution. its just gonna work on these high res screens. Ill be happy to redo this review after you fix this. I bought 4-5 issues 5.99$ each and you should listen to paying customers.

Disappointing

After latest update the app crashes a lot. The issues are still low-res and look Terrible on the iPad 3. The icon on the newsstand shelf is also broken and just a white icon with a generic book picture. Tried re-installing 3 times to solve these issues, still broken. This is a bad implementation all around.

No retina support

Even though it says retina display support its still low res . Kinda disappointing considering I bought a 6 month sub and cant read it.

Awesome

Great fix up. Definitely can see the retina display difference here. Great update guys

Had issue…..their outstanding service saved the day!

This is an updated with upgraded rating due to outstanding service. Product seemed interesting. There was a special edition that interested me, which was 11.99. I selected the item to purchase it and the app provided an option for a 1 year subscription for 59.99. I decided for the subscription. Result, I get the subscription, but not the special edition, which I still need to buy for 11.99. I did not question the content, but the app. Result: Pixelmags Support responded in 48 hours (not immediate, but not critical). All I can say is outstanding service. "M" (Ill not mention the persons name not being sure I should or not) was great. We had daily exchanges on my problem and in the end, I got what I initially expected….plus a very good feeling that they are on the ball to try and take care of customer satisfaction. Mission accomplished…I am a happy customer. Score could be a 5, but the snag is still a fact. Engage with confidence!

Get rid of interactive ads

I love the content of this magazine and the text display has improved greatly with this version HOWEVER, get rid of the interactive ads. If Im paying for a subscription I dont want ads popping up every 3 pages.

Horrible Experience

I downloaded the app for one specific magazine and it would crash repeatedly trying to download it. Eventually it worked and I read it. I left the app installed in case there were other issues I wanted to read. Sadly, I am now getting ads via push notification daily about a new app of theirs...this is extremely annoying. Granted I could just disable push notifications, I am going to uninstall the program. Its not worth the hassle.

What?

Its interesting how the 6 month subscription is cheaper than the 1 year. If I purchase the 6 month twice a year, I save money. What kind of sense does that make?

Needs way to get CD content

I have a subscription to this magazine in digital version. I dont like having to go out to the store an having to spend 15$ on the print copy to get the supplemental CD with the files for the tutorials, and other goodies.
